This (1861-65) John Hawkins “The Ladies Man” Civil War Store Card from Cleveland, Ohio has been graded MS62BN by NGC. This token is attributed as F-175I-1a as referenced on the label. This has been a hard to find token for many years. In the June 1898 issue of The Numismatist, this token is mentioned as being scarce and it is also noted that judging by the portrait of Hawkins on the obverse, that “the ladies were not particular in making their selection!” The token is a nice even medium brown color with no discolorations or other significant issues. The piece also has a minor clip at the upper right obverse rim. Please note that the NGC holder does have some fine scratches in the plastic that unfortunately show in the photos. |
