1875-S Trade Dollar PCGS MS64 |

 |
From 1873 to 1885, the United States issued Trade Dollars for circulation in Asia to compete with other silver dollar sized coins produced by other countries. Trade Dollars contained slightly more silver weight than a normal silver dollar issued for circulation in the United States. This 1875-S Trade Dollar has been graded MS64 by PCGS. This bright white untoned silver dollar is a wonderful example. The cartwheel luster of the coin is very strong and flashy. The piece also has a very strong strike which reveals all of the fine details of the design. The coin seemingly has just a few too many minor marks in the open fields for the coin to earn a gem uncirculated grade as the luster and strike are certainly strong enough. A couple of darker copper colored streaks just to the right of Lady Liberty are of note and appear to be impurities in the metal that have toned darker than the surrounding metal and are not scratches on the coin. A terrific bright and lustrous example of the Trade Dollar. |
