1861 Seated Half Dime NGC MS61 |

 |
This 1861 Seated Liberty Half Dime has been graded MS61 by NGC. The coin is holdered in an early version of the NGC holder with the gold heat stamped NGC logo on the reverse and is often called the NGC version 3 holder as it follows the ultra rare NGC black holder and the NGC white holder with the all white label. The dime is toned a medium grey color with highlights of golden and blue color which is primarily found in the protected areas of the design. The coin exhibits decent original luster, a nice strike and no major marks or other issues other than a light scratch/hit on Liberty’s head. The fields do have some handling marks, but nothing major as the relatively low grade may suggest. The photos shows some minor spotting on the coin but it is completely unnoticed in hand. A nice mint state Civil War date half dime in an early NGC holder. |
