This 1925 Lincoln Cent has been graded MS64BN by PCGS. Although this is a relatively common date in a relatively common grade, the eye appeal of this coin is far from common. The piece is quite attractive with spectacular original woodgrain toning on both sides which looks even more amazing in hand. The so-called woodgrain toning with alternating light and dark streaks across the coin is the effect of improper alloy mixing which is not visible on freshly minted coins, but only appear later when the coin tones to a red-brown or brown color. Even under a close inspection, no major hits, marks or spotting is of note. A beautiful woody Lincoln Cent that is certainly worth a premium over your typical example of the date. |
