The 1971 Canada British Columbia Silver Dollar is composed of 50% fine silver with an actual silver weight of 0.375 ounces and features a proof-like finish. The obverse depicts a re-engraved version of the "Mature Head" Queen Elizabeth II which shows considerable detail. The reverse design of the is based on the provincial coat of arms of British Columbia and features the dual date 1871-1971 as this coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of British Columbia. This example of the 1971 Canada British Columbia Silver Dollar has been graded SP68 by PCGS. A TrueView photo was taken by PCGS which captures the beauty of this coin in the best light. When tilted into direct light, the beautiful toning of this piece comes alive as shown in the TrueView photo. Of course, the coin takes a different look when tilted away from direct light as seen in the full slab shots provided. The obverse is toned in a light blue color with golden highlights around the rim. The reverse exhibits much deeper toning with strong gold color in the center which transitions to orange, then deep red and even a little purple near the rim. A wonderful high grade example. |
