The 1974 Winnipeg Centennial Silver Dollar is composed of 50% fine silver with an actual silver weight of 0.375 ounces and features a proof-like finish. The obverse depicts a re-engraved version of the "Mature Head" Queen Elizabeth II which shows considerable detail. The reverse design features a large “100” with scenes of 1874 Winnipeg inside the first zero and 1974 Winnipeg inside the second zero. This example of the 1974 Winnipeg Centennial Silver Dollar has been graded SP68 by PCGS. A TrueView photo was taken by PCGS which captures the beauty of this coin in the best light. When tilted into direct light, the beautiful toning of this piece comes alive as shown in the TrueView photo. Of course, the coin takes a different look when tilted away from direct light as seen in the full slab shots provided. The obverse is lightly toned with a faint golden color across most of the coin with a narrow band of colorful toning near the lower rim. The reverse is completely toned in a much deeper and quite attractive array of colors, mostly gold, orange, pink and red, but some green and blue is also present. A beautifully toned high-grade example of this centennial issue. |
